8:50 P.M. UPDATE - NOPD reports Robashi Holmes has been arrested.  We have asked the department's public information officers for more details.

FOX 8 News received this press release from NOPD Wednesday afternoon:

New Orleans Police have arrested a suspect believed to have committed an armed robbery Monday afternoon in the 7600 block of Willow Street. Police have identified the same suspect as being involved in a shooting later that same evening. A second suspect has been identified in the second event and a warrant is out for his arrest.

Detectives say 20-year-old Ken Dooley approached a female victim at approximately 1:15 p.m. Monday, October 22, as she was wiping the windshield of her automobile. Pointing a large gun at her, Dooley ordered her to step back from the vehicle and demanded that she hand over the keys. He fled in the victim's Lexus SUV, which was then discovered within 20 minutes in the rear of a residence in the 1700 block of General Ogden.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. that same evening, a shooting occurred at the intersection of General Ogden and Olive Streets. The victim reported standing near the intersection when he observed a dark vehicle drive past several times. The last time the vehicle passed, the victim said shots were fired, during which time he sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Responding officers observed the same vehicle occupied by several subjects fleeing the area without headlights on and pursued the car. The car's occupants fled the vehicle near the intersection of Colapissa and Mistletoe Streets, and responding officers apprehended Dooley after a brief pursuit.

Second District officers interviewed Dooley, during which time he identified 18-year-old Robashi Holmes as the shooter. A warrant has been issued for Holmes' arrest and the public is asked to assist in locating him. Holmes has also been identified as the victim of a shooting on an RTA bus that occurred on July 12, 2012 near the intersection of Carrollton Avenue and Palmetto.   A photo of Holmes is attached to this released.

The car the suspects occupied during the shooting was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Joliet Street at approximately 1:00 a.m. that same day.

While interviewing Dooley, a Lexus key fell out of his pocket, and was later identified as the key to the Lexus SUV stolen at gunpoint on Willow Street earlier that day. The victim in that robbery positively identified Dooley as the gunmen in that crime. Dooley is being booked for the armed robbery in the Willow Street auto burglary Monday afternoon and as principal to the shooting on General Ogden later that evening. He is also being charged with auto burglary and possession of stolen property in connection with the stolen vehicle from Joliet Street.
