Lockport, La. - A Lockport man is facing rape charges after a South Lafourche woman claimed she was forced to have sex with him on two separate occasions. 42-year-old John Delatte Jr. was arrested by detectives Thursday following an investigation into the incident.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre says his detectives learned Delatte had allegedly taken the woman to his Lockport home Wednesday night and forced her to have sexual intercourse against her will. The woman later reported the incident to deputies and disclosed this was the second time Delatte raped her. The first incident allegedly occurred about one month prior.
Following an investigation into the matter, detectives obtained warrants and arrested Delatte. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on two counts of simple rape, simple battery and simple criminal damage to property. He is being held in lieu of $102,000 as set by the warrants.
