New Orleans, La. - Someone vandalized the FOX 8 Bead Dog outside of Benson Tower overnight Thursday.

Surveillance video shows how the vandal knocked the fiberglass dog sculpture from its foundation, leaving behind a single oversized bead leg.

The sculpture is one of many created for the Paws on Parade benefit for the Louisiana SPCA.  The art project "helped raise awareness for animal welfare in our region, supported the art community, and beautified our area while using the iconic symbol of New Orleans' favorite holiday, the Mardi Gras Bead Dog," reads a statement on the web site of the Louisiana SPCA. "The parade rolled through our streets in 2012 and ended with a Mardi Gras Bead Dog auction on September 27th for those sculptures that were not fully sponsored. The auction alone raised over $75,000 for the animals in our community."

FOX 8 has filed a police report in response to the vandalism.
