New Orleans, La. - When Lafayette college student Mickey Shunick went missing on May 19, 2011, the case gained national attention and sparked outrage in the community.

Shunick's body was eventually found in a shallow grave in an Evangeline Parish cemetery and the case was solved.  Brandon Scott Lavergne is serving a life sentence for her murder.

Lavergne confessed to investigators, revealing details of how it happened.  He admitted to hitting Shunick with his truck as she rode her bike from a friend's house in Lafayette back in May.

At one point, Lavergne tells investigators Shunick fought back by taking his knife and stabbing him.  Lavergne eventually turned the knife on Shunick, stabbing her four times.

Then, believing she was dead, he went to dump her body when she jumped up and stabbed him in the chest. Lavergne goes on to say he shot her in the head.

On the confession tape, Lavergne points out to investigators where he buried her body.
