Port Eads Marina update

Belle Chasse, La. – The FEMA funded Port Eads Marina renovation is now scheduled to be completed in January 2013. The original November 2012 completion date was pushed back because of Hurricane Isaac.

The interior of the marina is nearly completed and the piers and boardwalk to South Pass are completed.

"Both camps in South Pass are currently well under construction, along with an ice house," says Jarret Bauer of All South Consulting Engineers.

FEMA initially denied Plaquemines Parish's application for funding to repair Port Eads which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Port Eads was a popular fuel stop and harbor for deep water vessels, commercial fishermen, and oil industry vessels before Hurricane Katrina.

The camps in South Pass will eventually be rented out to residents of Plaquemines Parish.
