Bayou Classic expands plans for Thanksgiving weekend

Bayou Classic Parade planned for Thanksgiving Day Bayou Classic Parade planned for Thanksgiving Day

New Orleans, La. – The annual Bayou Classic between Grambling and Southern Universities promises a bigger and improved extravaganza over the Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Event organizers appearing before the New Orleans City Council Thursday estimate 250,000 people will come to the city for the game and related events.  They invite the entire community to support and participate.

A 40-unit parade will roll downtown on Thanksgiving Day. In advance of Saturday's game in the Superdome, organizers have planned job fairs and other activities designed to encourage young African-Americans to attend college.

The Classic will also hold panel discussions on extreme hazing on college campuses in light of the death of a Florida A & M band member last year.
