Connick: 'Nothing to show' after millions in CCC tolls

Harahan, La. -

Supporters and opponents of a renewal of the bridge tolls on the Crescent City Connection clashed Thursday evening at a forum in Harahan.

The Jefferson Parish chapter of the Alliance for Good Government hosted the forum to address the issue, which is the subject of a voter referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot.

New Orleans Councilwoman at-Large Jackie Clarkson spoke in favor of renewing tolls.  She says that voters can trust that the Regional Planning Commission, which would have oversight of renewed tolls, will manage the bridge efficiently.

On the other side, State Rep. Pat Connick of Marrero argued that, after hundreds of millions of dollars have been collected from bridge tolls, commuters have seen little benefit from them.

FOX 8's Natasha Robin reported live from the forum Thursday night and you can view her report, with comments from Clarkson and Connick, by clicking this link.
