City releases 7th 'ResultsNOLA' report

Updated:

FOX 8 News received this press release from the City of New Orleans Tuesday afternoon:

NEW ORLEANS, LA— In advance of the 2013 Budget Hearings, Mayor Mitch Landrieu released the City's ResultsNOLA report on departmental performance for the third quarter of 2012. This is the seventh ResultsNOLA report.

The 2012 3rd Quarter ResultsNOLA report can be accessed here.

"This report reflects our progress from January 2012 through September 2012," said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. "I am proud of all our accomplishments, but some of my proudest moments as Mayor were seeing the hard work and dedication of our citizens and City employees during Hurricane Isaac. More than 3,000 public employees and contractors worked around the clock to help prepare, respond, and get the city back to normalcy. Despite the setbacks, departments continued to meet and exceed many of our performance targets.

The City issues quarterly ResultsNOLA reports that outline goals for the year and progress towards meeting those goals. The report for the third quarter of 2012, which is easy to read for the public, shows that a majority of City departments' targets are being met or exceeded. With emphasis on quality of life issues, highlights include:

• The number of catch basins cleaned in this quarter is more than triple the number cleaned in Q1 2011.

• The number of potholes filled continues to exceed 2012 targets.

• Year to date, there have been 260 filings of cases involving problem bars and liquor stores before the Alcoholic Beverage Outlet (ABO) board, compared with only 32 in all of 2009

In addition:

• Participation of disadvantaged business enterprises in new City contracts has met or exceeded the City's target of 35% in every quarter this year.

• The Office of Criminal Justice Coordination expanded its capacity to meet the objectives and aims set forth in the NOLA FOR LIFE strategy.

Overall, Mayor Landrieu has committed to dramatically improving the accountability, transparency and performance of New Orleans city government. In January 2011, Mayor Landrieu created the Office of Performance and Accountability to implement a performance management system for the City, where the analysis of data is used to promote better results and to demonstrate the public's return on investment for their tax dollars. In addition to the ResultsNOLA report, the Office of Performance and Accountability has created a series of public STAT programs for cross-departmental strategic issues, such as BlightStat and QualityofLifeStat.

The ResultsNOLA report released today represents the seventh comprehensive report of each City department's performance and a continued fulfillment of Mayor Landrieu's commitment to a better, more accountable government.
