Baton Rouge, La. - Some people think Mitt Romney's loss makes Governor Bobby Jindal one of the Republican Party's best possible candidates for president in 2016.

The National Journal ranks Jindal #7 on its list of the top 10 potential Republican presidential hopefuls.

Many political analysts think Jindal's new role as chairman of the Republican Governors Association helps him set the stage to run for president because it gives him a national platform.

Governor Jindal reacted to President Obama's re-election in an emailed statement that reads, "I know there are folks who want to analyze the campaign tactics and play Monday morning quarterback about the future of the political parties. There will be plenty of time to do that. Here in Louisiana, we will continue to do what we have always done, and that means standing up for our people and doing what we think is right no matter who is President."

The National Journal considers New Jersey Governor Chris Christie the top contender to become the Republican presidential candidate in 2016.
