New Orleans, La. -
The owner of a New Orleans home elevation company faces decades in federal prison after a guilty plea.
Federal prosecutors say Ramon Santos of Rendon Construction pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Prosecutors accuse Santos of using Rendon to issue checks for more than $250,000 to Diablo Construction. They say Diablo is a shell company used by Santos from April to July of 2011 to hide the employment of undocumented workers.
The 43-year-old Kenner man faces 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The Rendon firm faces a $500,000 fine.
