NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The World War II museum in New Orleans is the site of several Veterans Day weekend celebrations, including what museum officials call a "knit-in."
Saturday morning's event was set to commemorate the days in World War II when people on the home front were encouraged to knit sweaters and socks to be sent to the troops.
The museum says the event brings together area knitters. And it includes the distribution of scarves sent from around the country for all U.S. military veterans.
