Robert, La. –Police discovered a hit and run crash scene on LA 445 shortly after dawn Sunday morning that took the life of a 58-year-old Hammond bicyclist.
The scene is located approximately two miles north of U.S. 190 in Tangipahoa Parish.
The crash is expected to have occurred sometime before midnight yesterday evening.
Investigators say the crash occurred as the bicyclist was traveling north on LA 445 when it was stuck from behind by an unknown, maroon colored sedan.
After impact, police believe the suspect vehicle fled northbound on LA 445 leaving the bicyclist lying on the east shoulder of the roadway.
Troopers are currently working to locate next of kin for the victim at which time the victim's identity will be released.
Police are searching for the hit and run vehicle believed to be a maroon colored sedan, possibly a Saturn, with damage to its right front bumper, quarter panel and windshield.
