A Louisiana National Guardsman surprises his family at Saints game

Updated:

New Orleans, LA -- On this Veteran's Day, New Orleans Saints Owner and Vice-Chairman, Rita Benson LeBlanc cooked up a plan to surprise a Louisiana National Guardsman and his family just minutes before the game.

Leslie Davis records a holiday greeting to her husband, Specialist Brandon Davis just before the New Orleans Saints take on the Atlanta Falcons at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

"Baby we love you, we can't wait to see you, we just want you to come home," says Leslie Davis.

But little does Leslie Davis know, that her husband, is already home from his nine month tour in Afghanistan.

The plan to bring him home started three months ago when LeBlanc heard that the father of five children had never met his newborn baby.

She teamed up with the American Red Cross to present the Davis family with an award on his behalf.

"I know this will be an amazing magic moment this will make you cry," says Leblanc.

They hid him in a secret location at the Superdome.

"So he's being hidden where we eat behind the scenes," says New Orleans Saints Events Coordinator, Jared Sampson.

"This is exciting this is like a dream. Especially to come back and see my family an for the Saints game against the Atlanta Falcons. It's a dream," says Brandon Davis.

The surprise is almost foiled when Leslie Davis's family accidentally connects with Brandon Davis's family in the tunnel of the Superdome.

Organizers had planned to keep the two sides of the family in the dark about the other's presence.

With over 70,000 Saints fans closely watching the big screen jumbo-tron Brandon Davis appears, then all of a sudden he disappears and begins walking out of the Saints Tunnel.

He is reunited with his family.

Brandon Davis meets his new baby for the first time.

"I miss this place just being back with my family it's beautiful," says Brandon Davis.

"Shocked I mean nobody told us this was happening, this is wonderful," says Brandon Davis.
