New Orleans, LA. - New Orleans Police detectives say they've solved a nearly year old murder case. On Monday, the NOPD's Homicide Division announced a warrant has been issued for 20-year-old Don Brooks. Brooks is wanted in connection with the fatal burning and shooting death of 42-year-old Eric Robinson.
The murder happened back on January 7, 2012. Robinson was found shot and badly burned in a grassy area in the 3700 block of North Rocheblave Street. Robinson died on the scene.
During the course of the investigation, Don Brooks was positively identified by a cooperating witness as the person responsible for the murder and an arrest warrant was obtained for Second Degree Murder. Brooks is currently in federal custody in Saint Tammany Parish on unrelated charges. Once Brooks completes proceedings in St. Tammany he will be extradited to Orleans Parish to face Second Degree Murder Charges in the death of Eric Robinson.
Don Brooks was previously arrested for Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery by Shooting, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Illegal Use of a weapon, Distribution of Marijuana, Suspended Driver's License, Armed Robbery and Simple Robbery.
