New Orleans, La. - The average price of a gallon of gas in New Orleans fell 5.8 cents per gallon in the past week. The average as of Sunday, November 11th was $3.25/gallon.
According to NewOrleansGasPrice.com, area gas prices fell more than the national average. The website says nationally gas prices have fallen 3.2 cents in the last week to $3.46/gallon.
"The national average has again decreased in the last week, but the decreases are beginning to slow down," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.
NewOrleansGasPrice.com says the $3.25/gallon New Orleans area drivers paid on November 11th were 5.4 cents/per gallon higher than what was paid the same day one year ago.
"Wholesale gasoline prices rose strongly on Friday which could send prices higher in states with among the lowest prices in the United States. The fuel tightness has also continued in NYC- for those in Sandy's wake, fuel availability remains difficult," DeHaan said.
