Ponchatoula, La - A 15-year-old student was arrested after bringing a gun on Ponchatoula High School's Campus. The incident occurred Wednesday morning.

Police say that administrators placed the school on lockdown after learning that a gun was on campus. After a thorough search by members of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Department, the weapon was located and the student was taken into custody. He was transported to the Florida Parishes Detention Center.

Police praised the students for their patience and maturity during the process.

The student was charged with possession of a firearm by a juvenile and while in a fire-free zone (school campus).
