BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal's former chief of staff, Stephen Waguespack, is taking a job that will keep him near the Louisiana Capitol.

The Jones Walker law firm announced Wednesday that Waguespack has joined the business as special counsel and as the director of the firm's government relations practice, which deals with lobbying and regulatory issues.

Waguespack left the governor's office in October after five years with the Jindal administration, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.

In lobbying and legal work, Waguespack will have some limitations on his interactions at the state Capitol. Louisiana ethics law places restrictions on what type of work a public employee can do for two years after leaving the government job.

Jones Walker has offices in eight states and Washington, D.C.
