Victim identified in fatal hit and run crash

Robert, La- Wednesday night State troopers identified the victim in a deadly hit and run crash in Tangipahoa Parish.

Investigators say 58 year old Bruce D. Burge died on LA 445 approximately two miles north of U.S. 190 in Tangipahoa Parish Sunday. Burge was riding a bike at the time of the crash.

Troopers' investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Burge was traveling north on LA 445 when he was stuck from behind by an unknown maroon colored sedan.

Police say the driver took off northbound on LA 445.

Troopers are actively searching for the hit and run vehicle believed to be a maroon colored sedan, possibly a Saturn, with damage to its right front bumper, quarter panel, and windshield.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is urged to contact Troop L at 985-893-6250.
