Avondale, La - Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a shooting that left an Avondale man dead. The incident occurred Thursday around 7:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Avondale Garden Road. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Christopher Williams.
Police say that responding officers arrived on scene to find Williams lying in the driveway of a home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators recovered a number of spent 9mm shell casings on the scene. Witnesses told investigators that a number of African-American men were standing in the driveway near a car when gunfire rang out. Two of the men ran to an abandoned field across the street from the driveway. A third man ran into a home within the block. Deputies entered the home and apprehended the man, who was taken in for questioning.
