Terrebonne authorities probe inmate's death

FOX 8 News received this press release from Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry J. Larpenter Friday evening:

On November 16, 2012, Friday evening at approximately 1:45 p.m. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office correctional officers discovered an inmate, who appeared to be deceased, in a jail cell within the Terrebonne Parish Detention Center facility.

Acadian Ambulance responded and attempted to revive the inmate but their attempt was unsuccessful. The inmate was pronounced deceased at 2:07 p.m.

The inmate was arrested on Nov. 15, 2012, for domestic abuse battery and entering and remaining after being forbidden. He was booked into the facility at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

TPSO detectives are currently investigating this matter. The inmate is not a resident of Terrebonne Parish and detectives are attempting to locate a family member. The name of this inmate will not be released until the family has been notified.
