New Orleans, La. -
The young Hornets (3-4) learned a lesson the hard way Friday night, falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-95.
Kevin Durant and Kevin Martin each poured in a game-high 27 points for Oklahoma City (7-3).
The Thunder, the reigning Western Conference champs, showed why they are one of the NBA's elite teams, producing a blistering shooting display in the first half en route to a 66-37 lead after two quarters.
The Hornets struggled on both ends of the court, and trailed by as many as 34 points in the game. If they don't play up to their potential, the Hornets won't be able to hang with the league's best.
Ryan Anderson led New Orleans with 15 points off the bench, but rookie Anthony Davis was held to just eight points on 4-of-14 shooting.
The Hornets will look to move past this loss Saturday night on the road at the Milwaukee Bucks.
