New Orleans, La- From cajun to mexican, food truck vendors were out Friday night for a different kind of food fest.
The Broad Street food truck fest showcased several local food trucks, live music, and a drive-in movie.
Councilmember Stacey Head, says because current mobile vending laws,which have not been wholly modified since their inception in 1956 are outdated, she's working on their reform.
Right no the number of city permits for food trucks is capped at 100.
The food truck and drive-in event is a celebration of both the future of food trucks in new orleans, as well as the revitalization of broad street and its surrounding neighborhoods.
"Broad Street is an increasingly vibrant commercial corridor, and one in which we would love to continue to see the development of small, local businesses and opportunities for residents and visitors to interact and socialize. Food trucks are one example of such businesses, and an event like the broad street food truck festival and drive-in promotes broad street as a place to live, work, and play. Broad has big things in store, and this event is just a taste of things to come," said Broad Community Connections Executive Director Jeff Schwartz.
