Foundation gets grant to work with nonprofits

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Greater New Orleans Foundation has been awarded a $600,000 grant from the Kresge Foundation to help strengthen operations of nonprofit organizations in the New Orleans area.

The grant will aid funding the of the foundation's organizational effectiveness program, which was launched last year.

Foundation president Albert Ruesga said strong nonprofits aid in overall community health. The foundation's work in this vein includes training for more than 150 nonprofits on such topics as fundraising, advocacy and governance.
