Motorola ATRIX HD smart phone, available at AT&T outlets
With Black Friday looming, here are four more gift suggestions, available online and at your local AT&T wireless retailer.
I.) The Nokia Lumia 920 is the flagship Windows Phone 8 smart phone, including the latest advances in Nokia PureView imaging innovation. Using advanced floating lens technology, the 920's camera is able to take in five times more light than comparable smart phones without using flash, making it possible to capture clear, bright pictures and video indoors and at night. It also compensates for hand movement while the photo is being taken.
The Nokia Lumia 920 also comes with Nokia City Lens. By pointing the camera at a city street, City Lens overlays information about restaurants, shops, hotels and more on the surfaces of buildings, for the most intuitive way to explore surroundings. The 920 also comes with Nokia's largest ever battery (2000mAh) and, for the first time, built-in wireless charging.
Windows Phone 8 provides a start screen that can be more easily rearranged to reflect individual priorities and new animated Live Tiles for real-time updates on the things that matter most. The ability to sync content between Windows Phone 8 smart phones, Windows 8-based PCs and tablets or Xbox means files, music, pictures and video can be accessed in whichever way is most convenient. Windows 8 offers faster, safer browsing with Internet Explorer 10, and Microsoft Office apps built into the platform.
In the US, AT&T will sell the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820. Verizon Wireless will sell the Nokia Lumia 822, and T-Mobile will offer the Nokia Lumia 810.
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes in yellow, red, gray, white and black. The unit sells for $99.99 with a two-year contract. For more information, visit AT&T.com or your local AT&T retailer.
Nokia has also formed partnerships resulting in a range of wireless charging accessories. One example is the JBL PowerUP ($299.99), a wireless charging docking station with high-quality audio in retro styling.
II.) The Motorola ATRIX HD smart phone is now available at all AT&T channels. Although remarkably thin (8.4 millimeters), the ATRIX HD is durable, thanks to its KEVLAR construction. The unit also has a high-tech, invisible nano-coating that acts as a splash guard – not only on the outer shell, but also on the electrical circuit boards inside.
The ATRIX HD comes pre-loaded with SMARTACTIONS, a free app from Motorola that suggests ways to automatically change your phone's settings throughout the day to make your life easier.
For example, when you place the Motorola ATRIX HD in the Vehicle Navigation Dock (optional) and enable Drive Smart, it will set your phone to vehicle mode, read your text messages aloud, auto-reply to incoming calls and texts as well as provide turn-by-turn navigation. You can also set rules for when your battery gets low by enacting the Battery Extender, which can help your battery last longer by turning off GPS, disabling background sync or other features you select.
The unit's 4.5-inch HD ColorBoost display is one of the highest resolution smart phone displays on the market. The ATRIX HD also features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities at 30 frames per second and zero shutter lag. It also has a front-facing 720p HD camera.
Running on Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, the ATRIX HD is the first phone equipped with Motorola's Circle Widget on the home screen, which connects directly with your AT&T account and displays data usage since your last bill. It also gives you "at-a-glance" access to the time, notifications, weather and battery meter. You can also access more than 600,000 apps and games on Google Play, as well as millions of books and songs and thousands of movies and TV shows.
The Motorola ATRIX HD sells for $99.99 with a two-year contract at AT&T outlets. For more information, visit AT&T.com.
III.) PowerSkin, maker of shock-absorbing, battery-boosting cases for smart phones and gaming accessories, recently released the newest skin in its line-up – the Motorola Atrix HD skin for AT&T.
The case features 1500 mAh of power, angular corners for improved comfort, and a soft silicone exterior coated with weather-resistant polyurethane. The case's durable, matte finish protects against dust, scratches, moisture and grime.
The case features include on/off button and Smart Power Management, LED lights to indicate battery level and charge status, one-piece, and the ability to charge and sync. The unit sells for $69.99. For more information, visit Power-skin.com.
IV.) iDevices' iGrill is a grilling and cooking thermometer for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad. The device is designed to let users multitask while grilling, bestowing the peace of mind that food is perfectly cooked, at target temperature and safe for consumption.
iGrill communicates with iOS-powered devices via a secure, long-range Bluetooth connection. iDevices claims its free app not only enhances the iGrill experience but the cooking experience as well.
The unit is powered by four AAA batteries (included) and features multiple-probe support, multiple view options, and 200 foot+ range. The iGrill sells for $79.99. For more information, visit iGrillinc.com.
