Slidell, La. - The Slidell man held in South Sudan has been released from jail.
Mark McCabe was arrested in October on a kidnapping claim. His wife confirms he was released following a court proceeding, during which authorities determined there was a lack of evidence to justify holding him in detention.
McCabe was taken to a medical clinic under guard. He has a heart condition and suffered a mild heart attack in jail.
The man must remain in the South Sudanese city of Juba until another court hearing, scheduled for the week of November 25. Authorities in South Sudan will decide then whether to press on with the case or free McCabe entirely.
