St. Tammany Parish, La. – Police are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that took the life of 24-year-old Jeffery Cuccia of Slidell.
It happened shortly after 5 a.m. on LA 433, approximately 1.5 miles west of U.S. 11, Saturday morning.
Investigators say Cuccia was traveling west on LA 433 in a 2003 Toyota Camry when, for unknown reasons, he left the roadway to the right and struck a tree with its left side causing the vehicle to overturn.
Police say Cuccia was wearing a seatbelt; however, he received fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office.
Investigators suspect drug impairment to have been a factor in the crash.
Toxicology analysis by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab is pending.
