Bayou Classic attendance numbers continue to increase since Katrina

New Orleans, LA -- The rivalry between the Southern Jaguars and Grambling Tigers goes back to 1974 when the Bayou Classic Started.

Those Southern Jaguars have dibs on bragging rights for the next year.

More than 32,000 fans packed the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for the 39th Annual Bayou Classic.

Bayou Classic organizers say seven years post-Hurricane Katrina, they are still working hard to bring attendance numbers back up.

National exposure helps to market the annual event.

Organizers say Southern and Grambling are the only Historically Black Colleges and Universities to play on national television.
