Two men shot, one killed in Marrero

Two people have been shot, one fatally, in an incident in Marrero.

FOX 8 News received this press release from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Monday evening; we have redacted the exact street addresses for privacy purposes:

Sheriff Newell Normand reports, this evening around 5:43 PM our 911 Center began receiving calls reporting gunshots along with reports of two subjects who were shot in the 2000 block of Lincolnshire Drive in Marrero.

First responding Third District Patrol officers located the bodies of two black male subjects lying on the sidewalk across from 20xx Lincolnshire Drive. One of the male victims who suffered a gunshot wound to the head was pronounced dead on the scene. A second male victim, who was also suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, was transported to University Hospital for treatment.

Homicide detectives have yet to determine a motive and or suspect(s) at this time.

Additional details on the identities of both victims will be released as they become available.

Later Monday evening, JPSO identified the slain victim as 29-year-old Robert Curtis Jr., believed to be from Bridge City.  The second victim, 44-year-old Alton Perry of Marrero, was in critical condition at University Hospital at last report.
