Deputies catch third escaped inmate

New Orleans, La. - Orleans Parish Sheriff's deputies caught the last of a trio of inmates who escaped from custody. He was found in a construction site on Orleans Parish Prison property.

Authorities say Michael Washington was found on the upper levels of the Inmate Housing and Intake and Processing Facility. The facility is next to the temporary housing tents where Washington escaped.

"During our investigation, Sheriff's Office personnel determined that Washington was likely injured and lost contact with the other two inmates while attempting to flee. Our teams continued their systematic search of the construction at daybreak this morning and into the afternoon. One of the OPSO canine teams tracked Washington to a utility corridor under construction on the upper level of the new housing building," said Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman.

Washington now faces one count of simple escape. He was originally in jail on charges of possession of crack cocaine and a municipal attachment.

Orleans Parish Sheriff's deputies say Washington along with inmates Reginald Batiste and Domonique Battle escaped on Sunday, November 25. Batiste and Battle were both captured the next day.
