New Orleans, La. - An indictment against a businessman accused of bribing a public official was unsealed in federal court Friday morning.
The bill of information charges businessman Rodney Williams with making a series of "payoffs" to "Public Official A."
A source identifies that public official to FOX 8 as former Mayor Ray Nagin.
Williams was a former principal to "Three Fold Consultants," a company that received a number of no-bid city contracts..
The bill of information says starting in November of 2007, Williams made the payoffs to influence the mayor on the awarding of that work.
These new charges indicate federal prosecutors have at least two businessmen who could potentially be witnesses who would testify against Nagin.
Earlier this year, Frank Fradella, the former CEO of Home Solutions of America pleaded guilty to bribing that same "Public Official A" in exchange for promised city work.
