Possible murder investigated in Assumption Parish

Belle Rose, La.- Assumption Parish investigators are looking into a possible murder even though they haven't found a body.

A man called 9-1-1 to say he and a friend were carjacked and robbed when they got lost on Highway 998 in Belle Rose.

The caller told deputies two men forced them out of their car and into an abandoned house. That's where the victim said his friend, Tony Rodriguez, was shot in the head.

The caller said he was able to get away and ran to a nearby business to make the call for help.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal says the house where the altercation was supposed to have happened had been set on fire and damaged. However, investigators did not find a body there.

Deputies do not know what happened to the missing man, 23-year-old Tony Rodriguez.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack asks anyone with information to contact the Detectives Division at (985) 526-1627 or the Communications Division at (985) 369-2912.

Waguespack says callers may remain anonymous.
