Most common external parasite is announced by thedogchannel.com, Naturecast Pet Products explains why.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) December 06, 2012

The most common external parasite on a dog is fleas, according to thedogchannel.com on November 26,2012. A flea can live on a dog for 100 days if left untreated. Not only are fleas extremely aggravating and hard to get rid of for pets, but they also cause other issues such as tapeworms and skin irritation. Since animals can eat anywhere between 50 to 90 percent of fleas on their bodies, it is common for them to get tapeworms by ingesting the fleas.

There are numerous different kinds of flea treatments to use on a dog that will help prevent suffering from all the itching. Keep your dog healthy and treat them regularly for fleas to keep the pests away.

Fleas are not the only thing that can cause problems for dogs; ticks are another problem that dogs often to have. Ticks are part of the spider family; the most commonly known ticks are the Brown Dog Tick and the American Dog Tick. Like fleas, ticks also cause additional problems other than itching such as Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Fleas like to attach themselves around the head, neck and ears of dogs and survive off their blood. They are easily removed when they are noticed; a pair of tweezers and some rubbing alcohol will do the trick.

There are also many ways to help prevent ticks from lingering around the yard or areas that a dog might go. Keeping an eye on your pets by treating them with vaccines and keep the home tick and flea free with sprays and treatments will help prevent future outbreaks.
