The most common external parasite on a dog is fleas, according to thedogchannel.com on November 26,2012. A flea can live on a dog for 100 days if left untreated. Not only are fleas extremely aggravating and hard to get rid of for pets, but they also cause other issues such as tapeworms and skin irritation.
