BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU's governing board has re-approved its plans to merge the jobs of university system president and flagship campus chancellor.

The Board of Supervisors unanimously backed the idea Friday in its second vote on the issue.

The latest vote was designed to address concerns from the attorney general's office that the October decision was a violation of the state's open meetings law by not properly notifying the public that a vote would be taken.

Also, the language of the resolution was changed to respond to questions raised by the Georgia-based accrediting agency that reviews the LSU campuses.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has said a merger needs its approval. The new resolution spelled out that a merger would be done in accordance with accreditation requirements.
