BAKER, La. (AP) - Police said a tornado touched down in Baker damaging a car wash on La. Highway 19.

Police Chief Mike Knaps told The Advocate the tornado caused other problems including "a lot of damage" in the center of the city. Trees and power poles were damaged.

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office deputies observed damage from a possible tornado north of Baton Rouge.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said a possible tornado cut a path between houses and into a wooded area and caused trees and power lines to go down in the area.

An apparent "twister" caused extensive damage to the 7th District fire Station on La. Highway 44 in Gonzales and minor damage to a few homes in the area, Lt. Col. Bobby Webre with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said.

"It looks like a little twister came through and blew the doors off the fire station," he said.

The roof of the Supreme Chevrolet body shop in Gonzales was "peeled back," he said.

Authorities said no injuries were reported.
