Man arrested in deadly Algiers shooting case

Police say they've arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting in Algiers Monday night.

NOPD reports 20-year-old Bobby James was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and taken to police headquarters for questioning in the case.

FOX 8 received this press release from NOPD before James' arrest, describing the shooting in detail:

Bobby James, 1-8-1992, along with two unidentified men are wanted for the shooting death of a 35-year-old man. The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 P.M., at a residence in the 6400 block of Brunswick Court.

Homicide Detective Barret Morton identified Bobby James as one of the suspects and secured an Arrest Warrant which was signed by a Magistrate Judge for Second Degree Murder. Detective Morton is investigating to determine the identity of the two other suspects involved.

Bobby James was previously arrested for Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Contributing to The Delinquency of a Juvenile, Simple Burglary and Attempted Simple Burglary.

The victim was approached by three gunmen as he walked outside of his residence. The gunmen forced the victim back into his residence and demanded money. The gunmen were startled by the arrival of a family member who returned home. The gunmen opened fire striking the victim multiple times to his body. The victim collapsed in the driveway of the residence. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
