Jefferson Parish President John Young believes the troubled Jefferson Parish Housing Authority may have violated the state's open meetings law last month when it choose a new executive director.
The housing authority has been under fire by HUD for months over its spending practices. Recently HUD concluded that the agency will have to repay more than $600,000 if it cannot fully support questionable expenditures.
Now, John Young has sent letters to Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick and the state Attorney General asking them to look into the November 8th meeting in which the new executive director, Pamela Watson, was chosen for the housing authority.
Young said even though its a state agency, the parish has appointees on the housing authority board and he continues to push for reforms.
FOX 8 placed calls to the housing authority for reaction, but so far there has been no response to our calls.
