Kenner Housing Authority
Kenner, La. - Saying "enough is enough", Mayor Mike Yenni had strong words for members of the Kenner Housing Authority.
The mayor addressed the board at its meeting Wednesday night, the first meeting since KHA received a failure to comply letter from HUD.
HUD investigators began looking into complaints of mismanagement at the KHA in November, giving the agency until the end of the month to come up with an action plan.
The mayor says he was notified after the KHA did not meet the deadline, and the agency has also missed other deadlines set by HUD.
HUD has threatened to take over the KHA if the problems aren't corrected.
KHA's executive director Claudette Raphael said in the meeting the problems were being fixed and would be solved by June 30, 2013.
Mayor Yenni says that's too late for him. He doesn't have much authority over the board. Yenni can only appoint and remove members.
