New Orleans, La. – New Orleans police are investigating a shooting that happened outside Dat Dog, a popular Uptown restaurant.
The shooting happened just after 10:00 a.m. Monday.
Members of the New Freret Business and Property Owner's Association say the restaurant's general manager was approached by an armed man. Police confirm the gunman, wearing a mask, entered the business and demanded money. The worker refused, and the assailant shot him once in the left shoulder before fleeing on foot.
The worker was transported to a local hospital. His wound is not believed to be life-threatening.
Many businesses in the area have surveillance cameras.
"The footage is being pulled up as we speak," says Kellie Grengs of the New Freret. "We work directly with the 2nd District and they know exactly which businesses have surveillance and we will get this taken care of very quickly."
Dat Dog said on Twitter the restaurant would be closed for the rest of the day.
