Belle Chasse, La. - A student at Belle Chasse High School has been arrested, after allegedly threatening to shoot up his school and kill a teacher. 18-year-old Leonard Jourdan, III of Belle Chasse was arrested Monday night after the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office began investigating a complaint of threats made at the school earlier that day.
Investigators interviewed several witnesses, then brought Jourdan and his parents in for questioning. During the interview, Jourdan reportedly admitted that he made comments at school that he was going to shoot up the school on Friday, December 21st because he believed the world was coming to an end. Jourdan also admitted that he made comments about tying up a teacher and slitting the teacher's wrists. Investigators say Jourdan then told them that while he made those statements, he did so in a joking manner.
Plaquemines Parish deputies then arrested Jourdan, booking him with violating Louisiana Revised Statue relative to Terrorizing, which states it is a crime to intentionally communicate information that the commission of a crime of violence is imminent or in progress or that a circumstance dangerous to human life exists or is about to exist.
