Amite, La. - A 25 year old Ponchatoula woman is dead, following a head-on collision that happened Wednesday night in Amite. State Police have identified the victim as Carly Cutrer.
Cutrer was traveling west on LA 16. about a mile west of Interstate 44 in Tangipahoa Parish, when for unknown reasons, the car drifted across the center line into oncoming traffic. Cutrer's car slammed head on into a 2011 Buick Enclave SUV.
Cutrer was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office.
The driver of the Buick, 38 year old Sean Zimmerman of Roxie, MS, was wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries in the crash. Two additional passengers in the SUV, 63 year old Anita Zimmerman and 66 year old Steve Zimmerman, were also wearing seatbelts and were transported to North Oaks Medical Center with minor injuries.
Toxicology examinations will be conducted for both drivers at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. State Police say driver impairment is not suspected.
