Community honors Slidell marine killed in Afghanistan

Slidell, La.- People in the Slidell community lined the streets to honor 28-year-old Sgt. Michael Guillory Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Guillory died when his vehicle flipped over while on a mission in Afghanistan earlier this month.

A procession led by the Slidell Police Department made its way down Front Street as dozens of people took the time to honor Sgt. Guillory and his service to our country.

Honaker Funeral Home announced that visitation is scheduled for Friday evening from 6:00 to 10:00 and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium at 2056 2nd Street.  Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Auditorium.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to foundations that support relatives of service members who are wounded or killed in the line of duty.  You can make your donation online at these sites:
