Two children killed in early Christmas Eve fire


Ascension Parish, La.- State Fire Marshal deputies are investigating an early morning fire that claimed the lives of a 4-year-old and 6-year-old boy. 

Officials say the two boys were brothers. 

The 5th Ward Volunteer Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire on Galaxy Boulevard in the community of Darrow Sunday night shortly before midnight and found the structure fully involved in flames.

The mother and two other children did escape the blaze.

The Fire Marshal's Office and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office are jointly investigating this tragic fire and the fire is still actively being investigated at this time.

Investigators say there were no working smoke alarms in the home.
