A North Shore is recovering in the hospital after an alleged gunfight with St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies Christmas night.
Police were called to N. 10th Street in Alton around 11pm.
Investigators say 40-year-old Antoine Tobias began acting erratically scaring his family, who ran next door to a relative's house.
Tobias allegedly broke into that house with a handgun.
When deputies arrived, they were able to help get the family members to safety.
A short time later, officers say Tobias exited the house and shot at deputies. They returned fire hitting him multiple times.
Tobias was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives say he will be charged with burglary and attempted murder of a police officer.
