New Orleans, La. - As property tax bills go out in Orleans Parish there is added incentive for property owners to pay online or by mail. With the upcoming Super Bowl, traffic congestion and parking problems could make a trip to city hall to pay the bill in person a challenge.

Property tax bills are available online for viewing at www.nola.gov/pay-taxes. To pay online you will need your tax bill number. Credit and debit card payments are accepted but the city adds a 2.49% processing fee. There is no fee charged if you pay directly from your checking account.

Tax payments are due January 31, 2013.

People who have questions about property tax payments may ball the bureau of treasury at (888) 387-8027.
