FOX 8 News received this press release from the New Orleans Police Department Monday evening:
Homicide Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of an unidentified man. The incident occurred this afternoon just before 2pm, at the intersection of North Dorgenois and Mazant Street. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
"Officers arrived and found the victim lying in the street. He'd been shot multiple times and died on the scene." The victim was in possession of a stolen handgun from Baton Rouge.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
Homicide Detective Andrew Waldron is in charge of the investigation.
