New Orleans, La. -

Someone stabbed a senior citizen to death at an apartment complex on Tulane Avenue.

It happened around 7:00 Tuesday night at The Terraces, a senior living apartment complex in the 3600 block of Tulane in Mid-City.

NOPD officers found an 83-year-old man inside an apartment unit there, stabbed several times to his body.

"A family member went to the man's apartment and knocked on the door, but did not get a response," reads a press release from NOPD. "The security guard and the family member opened the door to the man's apartment and found him fatally stabbed multiple times to the body and called police."

The victim has been identified as Edward Richardson.
