Person of interest sought in New Year's shooting on Canal

New Orleans, La. – Police search for a person of interest wanted for questioning in a New Year's shooting on Canal Street.

Detectives want to speak to 19-year-old Edwin Patterson about the fight that happened in the 300 block of Canal Street around 2:00 a.m. January 1st. Investigators say one person was shot in the buttocks while trying to run away from the fight.

Detectives describe Patterson as 5-foot-11 tall, with shoulder length dreads and a medium complexion.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the NOPD or call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
