NOPD seeks violent purse snatcher

FOX 8 News received this press release from NOPD Thursday evening:

On Monday, December 31, 2012, around 5:17am, a Simple Robbery occurred at the intersection of Jackson Ave. and Carondelet St. in which a purse containing various items was stolen. The victim, after leaving Igor's bar at 2100 block of St. Charles Ave. when she observed she was being followed. The suspect -- unknown black male, early thirties, approximately height: 5'10" feet / weight: 160lbs -- tripped, punched and knocked the victim to the ground and snatched the purse from her shoulder.

The bar's video surveillance footage captures the perpetrator leaving the establishment wearing a dark colored Nike hooded sweatshirt.
