Belle Chasse, La.- A spokesman for the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office says salvage operations caught some tire on fire in the yard early Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened shortly before noon in the 500 block of Engineers Road in Belle Chasse.
Officials say scrap yard workers were performing salvage operations on a car and the engine of the car still had some gasoline in the line, which then caught nearby tires on fire in the yard.
A portion of Engineers Road was temporarily closed in order for firemen to run hoses across the road to extinguish the fire. The road is now reopened.
No injuries or structure damage is reported at this time.
