New Orleans, La. - The state has finished construction and opened the new Office of Motor Vehicles near the Pontchartrain Expressway.
The new building, at 100 Veterans Boulevard, sits on the same site as the OMV that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The new office will serve New Orleans residents and those who live on the East Bank of Jefferson Parish.
The staff will be able to help with driver's licenses, identification cards, driving tests, vehicle registrations, etc.
OMV Commissioner Stephen Campbell stated he's "extremely proud to re-open a location that will service customers of both Orleans and Jefferson parish. This is our first step in providing additional services for the customers that have been impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Along with Kenner city officials, I have been coordinating the opening of an express location in Kenner."
Planning for another express location in New Orleans East is already underway.
Customers can also access services via the web. Click here to visit the state's express lane website.
